Privacy Policy

How Cal Video Description Manager accesses, uses, stores, protects, and deletes information.

Cal Video Description Manager is a private internal application used by one authorized channel owner. It uses YouTube API Services and Google APIs to manage that owner’s own channel and link library.

1. Scope and operator

This Privacy Policy applies to Cal Video Description Manager (the “API Client”), a private software application operated by Barton Media LLC. The API Client is used internally to manage video descriptions and resource links on a channel owned or controlled by Barton Media LLC.

The API Client is not a public consumer service and is not made available to outside customers. Questions may be sent to info@calbartoncashback.com or through the contact page.

2. Use of YouTube API Services and Google APIs

The API Client uses YouTube API Services, including the YouTube Data API, and may use the Google Sheets API when the optional spreadsheet synchronization feature is enabled.

By using the API Client, the authorized user is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and should review the Google Privacy Policy.

3. Information the API Client accesses or stores

Optional Google Sheets data Spreadsheet identifier, configured range, link keys, labels, URLs, active status, prior URLs, and notes. To pull or push the authorized link library when the user chooses to synchronize it.

The API Client does not request or store the user’s Google or YouTube password. It is not designed to collect viewer identities, viewer watch history, comments, likes, subscriptions, private messages, payment-card information, or financial account credentials.

4. How information is used

The API Client uses the information above only to:

  • authenticate the authorized user and identify the connected channel;
  • retrieve current video descriptions and limited metadata;
  • find text, links, or managed description sections selected by the user;
  • generate and display before-and-after previews;
  • create local backups before description changes;
  • submit only those updates that the user expressly selects and approves;
  • restore a prior description when the user initiates an undo operation;
  • synchronize a user-authorized Google Sheet when that feature is selected; and
  • maintain local security, troubleshooting, and quota-control records.

The API Client does not use API Data for advertising profiles, surveillance, sale, audience targeting, or unrelated secondary purposes.

5. User control over write actions

The API Client clearly identifies proposed YouTube description changes before execution. The authorized user reviews the proposed content, chooses the affected videos, creates or confirms a backup, and manually starts the update job. The user retains final control over all text sent to YouTube.

6. Disclosure and sharing

Barton Media LLC does not sell, rent, license, or disclose YouTube API Data to advertisers, data brokers, or unrelated third parties.

Information is transmitted to Google and YouTube as necessary to authenticate the user and perform the API requests selected by the user. Google’s handling of that information is governed by Google’s own terms and privacy policies.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request, or when reasonably necessary to protect the security and rights of Barton Media LLC; however, this is not part of the API Client’s ordinary operation.

7. Local storage, security, and retention

The API Client runs locally on the authorized user’s computer. OAuth tokens, application settings, scan results, backups, and job records are stored locally in the application’s data directory. The API Client does not operate a public multi-user customer database.

Data is retained only while needed to operate the application, maintain backups selected by the user, meet legal obligations, or resolve security and compliance issues. The authorized user can remove local scan results, backups, job records, and settings using the deletion process described below.

8. Revoking access and deleting data

The authorized user may disconnect the Google account within the API Client. Access may also be revoked through Google’s third-party access and security settings.

After revocation, Barton Media LLC will delete OAuth credentials and Authorized Data associated with that authorization as soon as reasonably possible and no later than seven calendar days. Local application records that contain API Data must also be deleted using the steps on the Data Deletion page.

A deletion request may also be sent to info@calbartoncashback.com. Because this is a private internal application with one authorized user, the request should identify the Google account or channel associated with the authorization.

9. Cookies and device technologies

The local API Client does not use advertising cookies or third-party behavioral tracking. Google’s OAuth pages and Google services may use cookies or similar technologies under Google’s own policies when the user authenticates or interacts with those services.

10. Security

Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to protect local data, including limited access, local-only operation, manual approval of write actions, backups, validation, and use of OAuth rather than collection of account passwords. No security method is perfect, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

11. Children

The API Client is a business administration tool and is not directed to children under 13. It is not used to collect information from children.

12. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the API Client’s features, data practices, or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when material changes are published.
